Whispers is situated in Heysham, Lancashire. It is a detached three bed-roomed property with a 1 bed-roomed cottage on the same grounds. We aim to ensure that our house reflects that of a family home where young people feel safe, relaxed and cared for in a non-institutionalised setting. The house has a fitted kitchen, dining room and lounge. Downstairs there is also a bedroom/office for staff and a young person’s bedroom with en-suite. Upstairs there are two single bedrooms for young people, one with WC and wash basin. There is also a bathroom with shower and bath. Each young person has their own bedroom where there is privacy and space to do schoolwork. The young people are encouraged to take responsibility for their own space. Each young person’s bedroom is warm and bright and we encourage all those who come and live with us to bring their own personal possessions to make their bedroom feel their own and take ownership of their surroundings. The staff team ensure that the environment of the home is maintained to a high standard and young people are encouraged to help with jobs to keep the communal areas clean and tidy. Young people are encouraged, to use the kitchen for the preparation of food.
Outside at the rear of the property there is a parking area for seven vehicles along with a spacious garden with a lawn where children can play and young people can relax
Whispers Cottage is at the rear of the main house which has a fitted kitchen/diner and a living room. There is one young person’s bedroom with en-suite facilities as the cottage is for solo occupancy which provides a 2:1 staff ratio
Whispers House and Cottage have access to lots of off site activities including cinema, theatres, swimming pools and bowling. Other leisure amenities include Lancaster castle, Butterfly House, Happy Mount Park and the local beach.
